My husband & I love to visit the Brush Gallery, especially during Open Studios in Lowell (google Open Studios if you've never been--it's a fun time!). The exhibitions up front are always interesting, and the artists in the studios have wonderful pieces. Their styles (and media) are all different, so there's a variety of art to explore. If you like art--heck, even if you just like shiny things--the Brush is worth a visit!

The Brush is just off Market Street in a walkthrough between mill buildings it shares with the National Park Visitors' Center and Lowell Telecommunications. It is a mix of a gallery that changes monthly and about 15 artist's studios so you are guaranteed a mix of styles and mediums from oils and watercolors to jewelry to cloth and one who specializes in images of Lowell. Lunch downtown, checking out the cobblestoned streets and architecture combined with a gallery tour of the Brush, ALL Gallery, Zeitgeist and Ayer's Loft makes for a nice morning. All 4 galleries are in close proximity, not even a quarter mile separating the furthest apart.
