I see reviewers talk about snorkeling with manta rays - this likely didn't happen and I think there is some confusion here. The giant manta rays are found in deeper water (different location) and can be seen if you're a diver, however. I went both diving and snorkeling on Bora Bora and was lucky enough to get to see and interact with both the stingrays and the manta rays. I'd recommend both experiences, particularly diving with manta rays as it is a rare occurrence for many.

These rays seem domesticated and tame, but you can see the apprehension in their eyes and feel the fear in their skin. The Islanders are supporting families with these dives, but this was how The Crocodile Hunter was surprised. It's nothing, I would do again. Aquarians and people communicate, and if you're real good we are both probably fluent and conversive in French and English. I was chased by a six inch shark, who laughed me all the way back into the shallow water. Bring a harpoon.

We went by boat with the operator to a sandy spot and the rays and lemon sharks were all around us. I got in the water after a while and it was an amazing experience, once in a lifetime. The rays were so beautiful, gentle and weren't fazed by us at all. They happily glided and swam around us and it was such a calming experience. We spent nearly an hour with them and something I will never forget. If you get the chance, do it!

we had apprx 5 manta rays circling over head and 20-30 leopard rays swimming below us. Wow. Neat experience. Worth every penny!

A great attraction in Bora Bora! The boat ride to the place is fantastic, as is going in the water with the lemon sharks and manta-rays. You will be petrified (possibly) at first but after getting in and interacting with these harmless sea creatures you will feel a lot more comfortable! The lemon sharks and manta-rays are daunting but well worth it!The main guy leading it in the water is a comedian and you can share your scare with others which is the best part! Highly recommended.

We arrived by boat to the place where the stingrays dwell and went off the boat with the boat's operator. we were immediatelly surrounded by dozens of stingrays that came to feed from the boats operator and climbed all over us with their smooth bodies.It was an unique experience and highly reccomended.

Just a ton of fun to touch the rays and small sharks. It's a must-do for anyone in Bora Bora. Don't be afraid, as the staff is competent and the experience is memorable. Bring a camera.

We visited the rays with Patrick's Tour. It was incredible. The rays are so curious, they swim right up to you. You can touch them as they swim by, and even hold them to give them a kiss! I

Our guide took us here for about an hour. Its pretty bare with patches of sea urchins everywhere. We only saw one Leopard Ray and only for a second. I am sure its beautiful when they are there, you just have to time it right. Otherwise there isn't anything to see.The fun part was watching our guide tow the boat while swimming with us.

This is a part of your trip that you will always remember. Definitely explore this beautiful part of the island where you can see sharks, rays, and tropical fish swimming peacefully together. And don't worry, the sharks aren't nearly as scary as they sounds :)
